Growing up as the child of a single mother battling addiction, D the Kid learned early on what resilience truly means. Sports once seemed like his ticket out, but when that dream didn’t pan out, he turned to music — discovering a new way to channel his emotions and connect with others.

“I’ve always had a thing for entertaining and performing,” he says. “I just never knew how to get noticed. Now, this is my outlet — my way to tell my story.”

One man army

Though still building his name, he’s already shared stages with a few local artists, finding his footing in Portland’s underground scene. Doing it all independently — without a team or label — has its challenges, especially as he carves a lane in a genre where image and perception can shape opportunity.

What’s next

Still, D the Kid refuses to let anything hold him back. His upcoming project, Look at Me, dropping November 14, promises to showcase his growth and passion, with a new music video to match. “In a few years, I see myself getting paid to perform and living off my craft,” he says with conviction.

For now, his goal is simple: to reel in fans who believe in authenticity, perseverance, and purpose.
