Known by several names, including Baby Sumö, Slimelyfemo, and Sumö Hendrixx, the New Jersey-born creator is carving out his own lane through a combination of production, vocals, video work, editing, and deeply personal storytelling. Although much of his recording takes place in Philadelphia, Sumö makes one thing clear: he is Palmyra, New Jersey born and raised, while forever claiming “the E.”

Rather than boxing himself into the traditional labels of rapper, producer, or filmmaker, Sumö prefers something much broader: creator.

“I make beats, do vocals, video work and editing also,” he explains. “Just a creator all around, still creating my own world for everyone to catch onto.”

That philosophy sits at the center of everything Sumö is building. His music isn’t designed around gimmicks, manufactured controversy, or chasing whatever happens to be trending. Instead, he wants his audience to experience his art as honestly as possible.

Turning Trauma Into Art

One of the defining characteristics of Baby Sumö’s music is its vulnerability. He doesn’t shy away from discussing the darker chapters of his life, including trauma, drug abuse, relationships, and grief.

For Sumö, those subjects aren’t simply topics to rap about—they’re experiences that shaped the person and artist he is today.

“I am very open with the people about my struggles and overall humanity,” he says. “No gimmicks, no rage bait, strictly art in its purest form.”

Death and loss have particularly influenced his creative perspective. Sumö describes experiencing and witnessing significant amounts of death throughout his lifetime, moments that continue to stay with him.

Rather than allowing those memories to remain buried, he transforms them into stories.

“I still relive and see those moments but I am able to paint pictures with my trauma and storytelling,” he explains.

That ability to turn painful experiences into creative expression is ultimately what he hopes will connect him with listeners. If someone can hear his music and recognize their own struggles within it—or even find something healing in the music—then Sumö believes the art has accomplished something meaningful.

More Than an Artist

Sumö’s creativity extends far beyond recording vocals. He produces beats, works on videos, edits content, and approaches his career from the perspective of someone who wants to control the entire creative vision.

That independence is especially important to him as artificial intelligence continues to change the music industry.

“AI is taking over the music scene,” Sumö says. “We have to take control.”

For him, taking control means remaining involved in the creative process and developing something that feels unmistakably his own. His goal isn’t simply to release songs—it’s to create an environment, aesthetic, and universe that people can step into.

That vision has already led him to work alongside artists including Wildkarduno, Drq, Jah$tar, and Kankan, with even more collaborations on the way.

“The Biggest in This Shit”

Sumö isn’t shy about his ambitions.

When asked what he ultimately wants to accomplish, his answer is direct:

“The biggest in this shit. Only thing I wanna do is put my team on.”

Behind that confidence, however, is an understanding that success isn’t guaranteed. Sumö sees himself as another human being trying to prove what he’s capable of, just like everyone else.

“I am a human trying to prove themselves just like everyone else,” he says. “Everything is earned.”

That combination of confidence and self-awareness is central to his identity. He believes he has the potential to reach the highest level, but he also understands that reaching that level requires work, consistency, and earning the respect of the people around him.

The next chapter of Baby Sumö’s story is already taking shape.

The creator has a new tape planned for October, and the project is expected to feature major collaborations, including Wokintino, Kankan, and members of 2LV.

For Sumö, the upcoming project represents more than another release. It’s an opportunity to introduce his sound, his story, and his world to an entirely new audience.

His immediate goal is simple: get his name out there and reach new people.

But if his ambitions are any indication, he’s thinking much bigger than one tape or one moment.
