Center, Texas Rapper Corey Garrett Brings Christ to the Mic

In a music industry often dominated by fame, trends, and self-promotion, one rapper from East Texas is taking a different approach. Corey Garrett, a faith-driven artist from Center, TX, is carving out his space in hip-hop with one mission: to glorify Jesus Christ above all else.

“I’m not special at all,” Corey says. “I just want to literally be Jesus in rap form.”

For Garrett, rap isn’t about entertainment—it’s about ministry. His music aims to provide a Christ-centered alternative for listeners, while also encouraging Christians to step away from content that doesn’t uplift the faith. “The main thing remains: Christ uplifted and everything else brought low,” he explains.

The Independent Grind

Like many rising independent artists, Garrett faces the challenges of wearing multiple hats. Beyond writing and performing, he engineers his own tracks and handles his own promotion. While he admits that mixing, mastering, and content creation have been obstacles, his faith shapes his approach: “I’m a rapper. Oh how I wish I could just rap, but currently I am my own engineer and promotion team. My solution is just doing my best and letting the Father in Christ Jesus do the rest.”

A Mission Beyond Music

Garrett’s vision for the future isn’t centered on fame or financial success. Instead, he hopes his songs will resonate in heaven just as much as they do on earth. “I pray my music is jammin in the Kingdom. I hope the Lord Jesus has my songs as His favorites and close to His heart,” he shares.

Still, he remains grounded in reality. He hopes to one day support a humble lifestyle for his family through his art—but even if that dream doesn’t materialize, he’s content to keep working hard and creating music that uplifts Christ.

A Voice Worth Hearing

At a time when many artists are chasing trends, Corey Garrett stands out by refusing to compromise his message. His goal with press outreach is simple: traction. He wants more people to hear his music and be reminded of the truth it carries.

Garrett sums it up best himself: “I’m just trying to get my name out there in places it hasn’t been.”
