ChyPrince: Turning Life’s Struggles Into Purpose Through Music
For many artists, music is entertainment. For ChyPrince, it’s survival, therapy, and a blueprint for change. Born in Illinois and proudly representing both Chicago and Rockford’s 815, ChyPrince carries his hometown everywhere he goes—even after relocating to Texas to escape the gang violence and dangerous environment that surrounded him growing up. Like his favorite anime hero, Naruto, he believes where you’re from becomes part of who you are, and no matter where life takes him, he’ll always represent home.
How it all started
Growing up wasn’t easy. As a proud Mexican and Black artist, ChyPrince was raised by a hardworking single mother while his father drifted in and out of his life. His childhood was shaped by older influences on the block, where fighting, stealing, and surviving became normal long before he was old enough to understand the consequences. Looking back, he recognizes how much his environment dictated his decisions, but he refuses to let that define the rest of his story.
Ironically, music entered his life through those same experiences. His father would challenge him to freestyle on car rides in exchange for ice cream, unknowingly planting the seed for a future career. Soon, older neighborhood kids wanted to hear him rap, and ChyPrince realized music gave him something he’d never truly had before—a voice. While expressing emotions in everyday conversations was difficult, songwriting became the puzzle where every painful experience finally fit together.
As an independent artist, ChyPrince proudly embraces the role of the underdog. He sees himself in Naruto—a misunderstood person determined to prove his worth through perseverance instead of shortcuts. His music speaks for anyone who has ever felt overlooked, broken, or trapped by their circumstances. Rather than glorifying his past, he uses it to inspire people who are trying to become better versions of themselves despite the odds stacked against them.
Accomplishments
His journey has already begun creating momentum. ChyPrince has shared stages with notable names, including opening for Mike Jones, while also performing at venues such as Gnar Bar, Underground Voices, BYOC, and Flamingo Cantina. During his school years, he even headlined pep rallies, building confidence one performance at a time. Though he considers these only the beginning, every opportunity reinforces his belief that consistency will eventually outweigh circumstance.
Trials and tribulations
Like many independent artists, promotion has been one of his biggest challenges. He admits that confidence didn’t always come naturally. Selling CDs in school taught him that support often arrives alongside criticism, and learning to handle hate became just as important as writing great music. Today, he’s embracing visibility, understanding that sharing his dream is the only way people can become part of it.
That new confidence fuels his latest release, “Taste,” which follows the previously released single “Not Gonna Lie.” Both songs showcase ChyPrince’s evolving artistry while setting the stage for what’s next. Fans can also expect two more singles, “Choosin” and “Walkin’,” arriving later this year before the release of his anticipated five-track EP, Random Collection, scheduled for October. The project features songs written over the past several years, touching on heartbreak, family struggles, and the experiences that shaped him, including guest appearances from fellow ALW/24L Entertainment artist Y.D Da Don.
For ChyPrince, however, success goes far beyond streams and numbers. His long-term vision is to build ALW/24L Entertainment into a creative home where artists, producers, DJs, engineers, dancers, graffiti artists, and visual creators can collaborate under one roof. Inspired by community programs he witnessed growing up, he hopes to create opportunities that keep young people focused on creativity instead of crime while giving back through school supply drives, clothing giveaways, release parties, and local events.
Above all else, ChyPrince wants listeners to know they’re not alone. His music is rooted in authenticity, resilience, and hope for anyone fighting battles nobody else can see. Every verse is another chapter in a story that’s still being written—one that proves your past doesn’t have to determine your future.
What’s next
With new music arriving throughout the coming months and Random Collection on the horizon, ChyPrince is inviting listeners to become part of the journey now.
