From the Trap to the Marine Corps: How Houston Artist ComeFindJ Turned Pain Into Purpose
In an era where authenticity is often hard to find, Houston artist ComeFindJ is building his name by telling the truth about where he came from and what it took to change his life.
How it all started
Before stepping into the recording booth, ComeFindJ was living a lifestyle that many never escape. Growing up surrounded by drugs, gangs, and violence, he spent years living in the trap alongside six of his closest friends. During that period of his life, he survived being stabbed in the chest and having his neck sliced—experiences that left both physical and emotional scars.
trials and tribulations
Rather than allowing those experiences to define his future, ComeFindJ made a life-changing decision. Looking for a way out of the environment that had consumed him, he joined the Marine Corps. The transition wasn’t easy. Leaving behind drugs, familiar faces, and the freedom of street life became one of the biggest challenges he ever faced. However, it also became the turning point that gave him a new direction.
Music soon became his outlet.
Inspired by his friend Bhuda, ComeFindJ began recording songs that reflected his reality. Instead of creating a polished version of his story, he chose to document it honestly. His music serves as a reflection of the highs, lows, struggles, and lessons that shaped him into the person he is today.
“I just want to be someone people listen to while they’re gaming, driving, or chilling late at night,” he explains. “If people connect with it, that’s all that matters.”
Unlike many artists chasing viral fame, ComeFindJ has a grounded perspective on success. While reaching millions would be a blessing, he says he would be perfectly happy building a loyal audience of listeners who genuinely relate to his music. The messages he receives from fans who connect with his story continue to motivate him to keep creating.
One of his most personal projects is “Addicted,” an album that gives listeners an unfiltered look into a chapter of his life before joining the military. The project explores his experiences with drug use, the mindset he was trapped in at the time, and the reality of life in the streets. Rather than glorifying those experiences, the album provides insight into the struggles that ultimately pushed him toward change.
what’s next
As his career continues to grow, ComeFindJ hopes to collaborate with more rising artists, including names like Branny and ComeHelpGlo. For him, music isn’t about creating an image—it’s about documenting a journey.
From surviving violence in Houston’s streets to serving in the Marine Corps and sharing his story through music, ComeFindJ represents a different kind of artist: one whose message is rooted in real-life experiences, resilience, and the belief that it’s never too late to change the direction of your life.
