Originally from Providence, Rhode Island, Kia J. moved to the “city of big dreams” to pursue her passion for both singing and acting. More than just a performer, she calls herself an artist — one who creates from the heart, blending her love of music, storytelling, and screenwriting into an authentic and purpose-driven journey.
The passion for her career
“I love to write,” Kia shares. “I wrote all the songs on my current album Dear God, and I’m also writing my own screenplays. It’s important to me that I use all the gifts that God gave me.”

Like many artists, Kia’s journey began with self-doubt. Growing up admiring powerhouse vocalists like Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, and Billie Holiday, she once believed she couldn’t measure up. “I thought, I don’t sing like them, so I can’t be a singer. I spent years putting myself down — until one day, I decided to just go for it and stop caring what anyone thinks.”
Now, with faith as her foundation and a growing fanbase behind her, Kia J. is stepping confidently into her destiny. Her debut album, Dear God, is set to drop Thanksgiving 2025, following the release of several singles already available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all streaming platforms. The album will feature 10–12 tracks and a special bonus song — one Kia calls “a bit risky, but worth it.”
Her sound is distinct — soulful, introspective, and filled with honesty. Kia hopes her music will reach those who need it most, offering comfort and connection through her vulnerability. “My biggest challenge has been me — holding myself back with insecurities,” she admits. “But I’ve learned that in any artistic path, the key is to stay true to yourself. The right people will find your music.”

Looking ahead, Kia envisions performing on stages like Radio City Music Hall and major music festivals, sharing her message with the world. “I see myself healing people one song at a time,” she says. “I want to reach the right audience — the ones who need to hear my story.”
