Middlechild: Turning Pain into Purpose with “Misunderstood”
Coming out of Jackson, Alabama, Middlechild isn’t just another name in the rap scene — he’s an artist using his craft as a form of therapy and truth-telling. Refusing to be confined to a single label, Middlechild calls himself “an artist making art,” blending emotion, honesty, and raw experience into every track.
What his music means to him
For Middlechild, music isn’t just a passion — it’s survival. “Music my therapy,” he says. “Most of the stuff I been through, people going through now, so I just be wanting to give them hope honestly.” That authenticity bleeds through his sound, allowing fans to connect with his story on a deeper level.
Accomplishments from rock bottom
Despite being from a small city, his music has already reached far beyond his hometown. One of his songs was played on the radio not just locally, but all the way in South Africa — a powerful moment that proved the universal reach of his message.
Trials and tribulations
Perfectionism is both Middlechild’s gift and his struggle. “The biggest challenge for me is being a perfectionist — the song would be good, but I always have to tweak it more, so it takes longer for me to drop.” But that same attention to detail is what makes his work timeless, not trendy.
What’s next
Now, he’s preparing for his most personal project yet — “Misunderstood”, an upcoming album that will feature artists from his own label, Groundupproductions. The project is still under wraps with a release date TBA, but Middlechild promises it will showcase not only his growth but the depth of talent within his team.
Looking ahead, Middlechild sees nothing but progress and purpose: “At the top,” he says confidently when asked about his future. His vision for Groundupproductions is to build a foundation from the ground up — real artists, real stories, real music.
