MOSES Returns With Purpose: Turning Trauma Into Truth Through Song
MOSES is not chasing a comeback—he is answering a calling.
Where it all started
Based in Westport, Connecticut, MOSES is a genre-defying singer-songwriter whose return to music comes after more than three decades away. His work is raw, unflinching, and deeply autobiographical, shaped by lived experiences that include love, loss, depression, addiction, and survival. Every song he writes is intentional. Every performance is an act of reclamation. At the core of MOSES’ music is a simple, resonant belief: we are all worthy of love.
His debut single, “Confessional,” sets the tone for everything that follows.
how his debut single represents his struggles coming up
A slow-burn horror ballad, “Confessional” confronts the silence surrounding the abuse MOSES suffered as a teenager at the hands of clergy. Built on finger-plucked guitar, bass, and harp, the song’s delicate arrangement is shadowed by hypnotic percussion and a gradually unfolding narrative that refuses to look away. It is restrained but devastating—an unreserved telling of truth that transforms pain into power. Rather than sensationalizing trauma, MOSES allows the song to breathe, letting honesty do the work.
Hard work and long nights
MOSES’ journey back to music did not happen overnight. After putting music aside in his early twenties, he picked up the guitar again during the pandemic—first as a personal reckoning, then as a lifeline. Songwriting became a way to exercise long-buried demons and forge hope out of reflection. One open-mic night at a time, he rebuilt his confidence, found an audience, and rediscovered the healing potential of sharing his voice.
That grassroots momentum led him into the studio at Verso Studios in Connecticut, where his songs were finally memorialized with care and intention. More recently, Goathead Records has taken on PR duties, with MOSES looking to expand these partnerships as he moves into 2026.
Beyond his own recordings, MOSES is also a founding partner of the Nutmeg Original Music Series, a twice-monthly gathering of singer-songwriters held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. The series has become a vital space for original voices and quiet, attentive listening—values that mirror MOSES’ own artistic ethos.
What’s next
Looking ahead, MOSES is currently working on a full-length album slated for release in 2026, with “Confessional” serving as its emotional and thematic foundation. His vision for the future is refreshingly grounded: to keep writing, recording, and finding quiet rooms receptive to his brand of folk music—narrative, timeless, raw, and honest.
the impact he wants his music to have on his listeners
There is no artifice in MOSES’ work. No rush. No disguise. His music does not ask for sympathy—it offers connection. In telling his story, he creates space for others to feel seen, heard, and less alone.
“Confessional” is available now and serves as both an introduction and an invitation.
