MusicWithDR: Walking The Lonely Road With Purpose, Pain, and Persistence

For David Reit, known artistically as MusicWithDR, music isn’t a hobby, a dream, or a chase for fame — it’s survival. Born in the Bronx, raised in Somers/Mahopac, New York, and now based in Edison, New Jersey, the Singer/Songwriter’s story is one shaped by pain, loss, redemption, and an unshakable belief that music is part of God’s plan for his life.

“I’m actually not okay as a person when I’m not creating music,” Reit says. “It’s my therapy. My outlet. My purpose.”

That purpose runs deep — and it runs in his blood.

A Life Surrounded by Music

MusicWithDR comes from a lineage of elite musicians. His mother, a Juilliard-trained harpist, composer, and educator, recently completed a musical titled A Cricket’s Tale, based on the original Pinocchio story. His father spent over 30 years on Broadway, performing French horn in Phantom of the Opera. His aunts, uncles, brothers, and cousins are all professional musicians as well.

With that kind of legacy, it’s no surprise Reit started young — learning piano, playing multiple instruments, and participating in orchestra and band before transitioning into acting and musical theater. He even attended the Tisch program at NYU. But despite the prestige, something was missing.

“I wasn’t passionate enough about that world,” he admits. “It took time — but I eventually found my people.”

Finding His Voice the Hard Way

In his early 20s, Reit discovered songwriting through hip hop and pop, performing and traveling while slowly developing his own sound. It would take nearly a decade of work, experimentation, and life experience to truly hone his voice.

Behind the scenes, however, the journey was anything but glamorous.

As a teenager, Reit experienced homelessness and incarceration, spending his 21st birthday behind bars. After his release, he faced the long shadow of stigma — fighting to prove himself in a world reluctant to give second chances.

More recently, he endured a life-altering battle with addiction, one that nearly cost him everything: his career, his marriage, his children, and his life.

Now approaching one year clean, Reit stands in a radically different place.

“Everything had to change,” he says. “And thankfully, things are going great.”

Quiet Wins, Massive Impact

While much of his success remains under wraps, one career milestone speaks volumes: a song he co-wrote was nominated for a Grammy in 2015 and has since amassed over 7 billion streams worldwide. Due to an NDA, details remain confidential — but the impact is undeniable.

He’s also shared stages with major artists including J. Cole, The Lox, Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, Hot Chelle Rae, and JLS, further cementing his credibility as both a performer and songwriter.

A Re-Introduction:

The Lonely Road

MusicWithDR officially reintroduces himself with “The Lonely Road,” released on December 31, 2025, a reflective, emotionally charged record that mirrors his personal journey.

In just its first week, the song surpassed 7,000 streams and landed on multiple Spotify algorithmic playlists, signaling strong organic traction and listener resonance.

This release marks more than a single — it marks a new era.

Relentless Work, Strategic Vision

In 2026, MusicWithDR is taking on an ambitious challenge: releasing one song every single week for the entire year. He’s been grinding alongside his brother Bingx (@Bingxmusic206) to record, shoot content, and maintain a level of consistency few artists dare to attempt.

“If you know how much work goes into one song,” he says, “you can imagine the intensity of this workload.”

But this isn’t about chasing vanity metrics.

“My focus is sync — movies, TV, games,” Reit explains. “Give me the bag over the streams.”

That said, listeners can expect a steady rollout of emotionally rich, placement-ready records — including:

  • “Collateral Damage” – dropping 01/10
  • “Home Alone” – dropping 01/16

Later this year, MusicWithDR will also release collaborative tracks featuring Futuristic, Bingx, Oswin Benjamin, B Martin, L.U.C.I.D, and Jehry Robinson.

Looking Ahead

MusicWithDR envisions a future built on high-level sync placements, consistent five- and six-figure deals, and a loyal niche fanbase that grows organically as his catalog expands.

This isn’t about hype.

This is about longevity.

This is about providing for his wife and five children through the gift he was born to carry.

With The Lonely Road, MusicWithDR isn’t asking for sympathy — he’s offering honesty. And as 2026 unfolds, one thing is clear: this is an artist who has already survived the worst, and now he’s walking forward with purpose.

Sometimes, the longest road leads exactly where you’re meant to be.
