Hailing from the Bay Area, California, MystyMoon has spent the past four years developing a career as a professional DJ while simultaneously discovering a deeper creative identity through music production. Just fifteen months ago, she opened Ableton Live for the first time, initially feeling overwhelmed by the seemingly endless creative possibilities inside the software. The result has been a remarkably rapid progression—from opening Ableton for the first time to producing a single and a three-track EP, both released through Black Techno Matters.

From First Ableton Project to Black Techno Matters
One of the most remarkable aspects of MystyMoon’s journey is how quickly her experimentation translated into official releases. The very first track she began working on during her first month of learning Ableton Live was “Solstice,” which ultimately found its way to the Black Techno Matters label.
That early accomplishment was followed by the release of MystyMoon’s first three-track EP, Alchemical Swag, also through Black Techno Matters. The project features “Grit,” “EBB,” and “Flow,” representing another important step forward in MystyMoon’s rapidly developing discography.
For an artist who only opened Ableton for the first time fifteen months ago, those releases represent more than simply completed projects. she demonstrate what can happen when curiosity, education, experimentation, and persistence come together.
Recognition for Creative Experimentation
MystyMoon’s work has also begun receiving recognition for its willingness to explore beyond conventional boundaries. Electronic music writer James Cameron described MystyMoon’s “budding discography” as offering “a modern take on the bold experimentation that defined early techno.”

Released August 28 through Black Techno Matters, Alchemical Swag marks an important milestone in MystyMoon’s journey. The three-track EP features “Grit,” “EBB,” and “Flow,” and represents the next chapter in an artistic path that began with DJing before expanding into production and sound design.
But MystyMoon is treating the EP as more than a musical release.
Beginning September 4, a new visual will be released each week, with each of the EP’s tracks paired with a different visual artist. The concept gives every song another creative dimension while allowing the sonic environments MystyMoon created to be interpreted through a completely different artistic language.
The visual rollout reflects something central to MystyMoon’s philosophy: music can become a starting point for collaboration.
Connecting Sound With Visual Art
Collaboration across artistic disciplines is becoming an increasingly important part of MystyMoon’s creative vision. Rather than viewing music as an isolated medium, she is interested in what happens when sound intersects with visual art, film, movement, and physical environments.
