Ray Matrix’s connection to Liberia is deeply personal. He describes himself as a direct descendant of formerly enslaved Americans who migrated to West Africa and established Liberia. That heritage has become an important part of his identity and creative expression.

During the early years of his music career, he felt pressure to portray a certain image of what he believed a successful artist was supposed to look like. He thought he needed to appear like a stereotypical “cool” artist, surrounded by women and presenting himself as a polished pretty-boy figure.
Eventually, he realized that trying to be someone else was holding him back.
After spending seven years developing as an artist, Ray Matrix says he finally conquered that fear and embraced his authentic personality. Today, he openly celebrates his love for anime, movies, pop culture, and science fiction, incorporating those interests into his music and overall artistic identity.
That authenticity is especially important to his latest release, “CANNOT DECIPHER YOU.,” which he believes stands in a lane of its own.

Ray Matrix sees himself performing on the biggest stages in the world and reaching massive audiences with his music. But his ambitions extend beyond fame and recognition.
