Requan318: From the Streets to the Sanctuary, Turning Faith Into Sound
Emerging from Monroe, Louisiana and now based in Boston, Massachusetts, Requan318 is a Christian rapper whose life story carries as much weight as his music. His journey is not built on trends or industry hype, but on redemption, transformation, and an unshakable faith that reshaped his identity and mission.
How it all started
Before the music had purpose, Requan318 was a young man searching for truth in all the wrong places. Raised around the realities of street life and surrounded by the consequences of gang violence, he watched friends lose their lives while he himself drifted deeper into depression and confusion. Like many, he looked up to mainstream hip-hop figures whose portrayals of success and manhood ultimately led him toward destructive choices rather than fulfillment.
Trying to find his purpose
In pursuit of meaning, Requan joined the United States Army. What he hoped would bring clarity instead revealed an even deeper emptiness. Stationed far from home and battling intense depression, he reached a breaking point that nearly cost him his life. Then, in what he now describes as divine intervention, a simple knock at his door changed everything.
Overcoming dark times
A woman moving into his apartment complex noticed his broken state and invited him to church. There, a pastor shared the Gospel with him clearly and personally—explaining who Jesus is and why His sacrifice mattered. That moment marked the beginning of a complete transformation. Requan318 accepted Christ, and his life took a radically different direction.
Faith didn’t just save him—it gave him purpose.
The turning point of his life and career
Since that turning point, Requan318 has devoted his life to service, ministry, and truth. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Ministry, followed by a Master’s degree in Church Planting, and now pastors a small church in Boston. Yet even as he stepped fully into ministry, his love for hip-hop never faded. Instead, it was redeemed.
That redemption became the foundation for Haven Records, a Christian hip-hop label founded by Requan318 with a clear mission: to introduce the world to Jesus Christ and the hope found in Him. Through music, he seeks to challenge false ideas of manhood and replace them with a message centered on service, humility, love, and obedience to God.
His latest album, Salt and Light, reflects that mission fully. The project is not about spotlight or self-promotion—it’s about impact. Honest, reflective, and rooted in Scripture, the album speaks to listeners who are searching for meaning beyond fame, money, and image. It stands as a testament to what happens when faith and art collide with intention.
Trials and tribulations
Requan318 admits that releasing music hasn’t always come easily. Naturally reserved and uncomfortable with attention, he spent years creating songs that never saw the light of day. Encouragement from close friend and label mate Quick.cp pushed him to step forward and share what God placed on his heart—resulting in his most complete and intentional body of work to date.
Now available on Bandcamp, with releases on Spotify and Apple Music arriving tomorrow, Salt and Light marks a new chapter—not just for Requan318, but for those who will encounter his story through sound.
What’s next
Looking ahead, his vision remains simple and unwavering: to use music as a tool for salvation, encouragement, and discipleship. His goal is not fame, but faithfulness. Not applause, but changed lives.
Through his testimony, his ministry, and his music, Requan318 stands as proof that no past is too broken, no darkness too deep, and no life beyond redemption.
This is not just music. This is ministry.
