Splatt5ive: Trusting the Process From Chaos to the Come-Up
Coming out of Ennis, Texas, rising rapper Splatt5ive is preparing for what could become one of the most important releases of his early career. His upcoming album, Trust The Process, represents more than just another collection of songs. For Splatt5ive, the project is the result of finally giving himself the time, focus, and discipline to create music exactly the way he wants it.
Although there is no official release date yet, Splatt5ive expects Trust The Process to arrive within the next few months. Before the album drops, however, he is introducing listeners to the next chapter with his upcoming single, “Dear Life,” which is scheduled to release August 24 or 25 across all major streaming platforms.
Why “Trust The Process”?
The title Trust The Process comes from Splatt5ive recognizing that he has spent a lot of time putting things off. This project is different. For the first time, he says he truly locked himself into the studio for more than 12 hours at a time, carefully working through the music and making sure every detail was where it needed to be.
That dedication became the foundation of the album.
Splatt5ive has also heard plenty of opinions about the direction of his music. People have told him to stop making sad songs and make more aggressive, hard-hitting music. Instead of ignoring that feedback, he decided to experiment with it, creating an overload of reckless, energetic records that reflect what listeners have been asking to hear.
But underneath the hard sound is a much deeper story.
A Childhood Filled With Chaos
Splatt5ive’s journey into music cannot be separated from the difficult experiences he went through growing up. Between the ages of 16 and 18, he says he was kicked out of the house multiple times and spent an extended period of his teenage years on punishment.
He describes himself as a rebellious kid who constantly found himself in trouble. Arguments with his father, conflicts at home, fights, and disagreements over authority became recurring parts of his teenage years. Punishment often meant losing access to nearly everything he enjoyed, and whenever he managed to get something back, another mistake could reset everything.
The restrictions eventually became a major source of frustration.
Splatt5ive says he couldn’t freely go outside, use his phone, play video games, watch YouTube, spend time with his brothers, attend school events, or participate in activities that mattered to him. He missed opportunities to experience things many teenagers take for granted, including homecoming, prom, varsity sports, and other moments with friends.
For someone who already felt trapped, those restrictions only made him want freedom more.
The Night Everything Changed
One of the earliest times Splatt5ive says he was kicked out stemmed from something that initially seemed minor: riding the wrong bus.
After missing his normal bus, he decided to ride another bus because his friends were on it and it still dropped him relatively close to home. His mother saw him walking from the different stop and became upset because she had previously warned him not to travel through certain parts of the city.
What followed turned into a much bigger confrontation.
Splatt5ive refused to accept what he felt was an unfair punishment, and the disagreement eventually resulted in him leaving the house. He went to his father’s home, only to be told the next morning that he couldn’t return there either.
Suddenly, he had nowhere to go.
He remembers going to school and asking around for somewhere to stay while desperately asking the school counselor not to contact his mother. For Splatt5ive, the situation wasn’t simply about getting in trouble. He felt like he was desperately trying to escape an environment where he had very little freedom.
Running Toward Freedom
Leaving home became something Splatt5ive did more than once.
At one point, he says he ran away after his stepfather took away his television following an incident where Splatt5ive couldn’t stop himself from laughing. To him, losing another possession felt like the final straw.
There were other moments when he left because he wanted to experience a normal teenage life — playing basketball, going to parties, attending school events, spending time with friends, and simply being able to go outside without feeling restricted.
His relationship with his family became increasingly complicated, with different relatives taking him in at different points. He describes being moved between his mother, father, grandparents, and cousin while trying to figure out where he belonged.
There were moments of reconciliation, but the instability continued.
Music Became the Escape
Ironically, the thing Splatt5ive wanted most was also one of the things he had the hardest time being allowed to pursue: music.
He says his family didn’t approve of the violent themes and lyrics in some of his early music, which led to his musical equipment being taken away. His phone and laptop — essential tools for creating music — were repeatedly taken from him.
But taking the equipment away didn’t stop him.
Splatt5ive found ways to create anyway.
He recalls sneaking into the bathroom to record, write, edit, and listen back to his songs for hours because it was one of the few places where he could work without immediately being stopped. He would try to keep his voice down so he wouldn’t wake anybody up, sometimes making music late at night and working on songs in whatever space he could find.
Some of the music he currently has released came from those circumstances.
What looked strange from the outside was actually Splatt5ive trying to build a career with whatever resources he had.
Turning the Pain Into Music
That history gives Trust The Process a different meaning.
The album isn’t simply about making hard rap music. It’s about the process of becoming the person and artist Splatt5ive believes he is supposed to become.
The biggest challenge now isn’t finding something to talk about. It’s matching the quality of his own best work.
Splatt5ive admits that sometimes he’ll create a song that he considers extremely hard, only to struggle when he immediately tries to recreate that same energy on the next record.
His solution has been to step away when necessary.
He understands that creativity can become exhausting, and sometimes the best thing he can do is let himself recover before attempting to create another record. That patience is another part of what Trust The Process represents.

Before listeners hear the full album, Splatt5ive is preparing to release “Dear Life” on August 24 or 25.
The single represents his first major attempt at putting real promotional energy behind a release, making it an important moment for an artist who has spent years trying to create music despite the obstacles around him.
