Paul Parsons: Turning Pain Into Purpose Through Faith and Music

Paul Parsons, a songwriter and producer originally from North Alabama and now based in Denver, Colorado, isn’t just making music—he’s delivering a message rooted in faith, survival, and redemption.

How it all started

While many artists build their careers on image or accolades, Paul’s foundation is something much deeper: lived experience, loss, and a calling he believes was given directly by God.

From Tragedy to Transformation

Paul’s life has been anything but easy. He married young at 19 and experienced unimaginable loss—losing two of his three daughters. One was stillborn in 2009, and his youngest, born in 2012 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), fought for eight months before passing away.

That period marked the beginning of a downward spiral.

Life slowly unraveled, leading Paul into a place he describes as “completely out of control.” Searching for a reset, he moved to Denver just weeks before COVID hit. But instead of finding stability, he spent nearly two years struggling on the streets before eventually landing in prison.

Ironically, that moment became the turning point.

“Best thing that ever happened to me.”

A Moment He Never Forgot

Years before everything changed, there was a moment Paul couldn’t explain—but never forgot.

About eight years ago, after a difficult day at work, he got into his car and turned it on. The radio was playing K-LOVE, a contemporary Christian station he had never listened to before—and didn’t even know how to find.

He’s certain he didn’t set it.

At the time, nothing immediately changed. But looking back now, Paul sees it differently—as a seed planted long before he was ready to understand it.

Discovering His Calling Through Music

Paul first experimented with songwriting about five and a half years ago while incarcerated, but those early songs were just the beginning.

Everything shifted in late 2024.

After arriving at a halfway house, he experienced what he describes as a “lightbulb moment.” Through tools like Suno and DistroKid, combined with a renewed faith, he found clarity in his purpose:

to create music that glorifies Jesus Christ.

Since then, he’s been writing at an incredible pace—often completing a song or draft every single day.

  • 100% self-written lyrics
  • Multiple takes per track until it feels right
  • No formal music training

“I can’t read sheet music, but I can hear a song in my head from words on paper.”

Faith Over Fame

Paul isn’t chasing clout, awards, or industry validation.

His mission is simple:

Spread the message. Shine light in dark places. Point everything back to Christ.

“This is not about me. This is about Jesus. Period.”

Even as he navigates challenges like ADHD, mild PTSD, and the limitations of shared housing, he continues to create—writing wherever he can, even during downtime at work.

Music With a Message

Paul currently has three albums on Spotify, with more being distributed across platforms:

  • Two Christian-focused projects
  • One clean, wholesome country album

His music blends heartfelt storytelling with spiritual conviction, aiming to uplift, encourage, and reach people wherever they are in life.

What’s Next

With parole set for July, Paul is focused on staying grounded, prepared, and open to wherever God leads him next.

Though he remains humble about expectations—never assuming viral success—he understands the impact his music could have.

And if it reaches even one person who needs it, that’s enough.

A Light That Won’t Be Hidden

Paul Parsons represents something rare in today’s music landscape: authenticity without compromise.

His story is one of loss, struggle, redemption, and purpose—and through his music, he’s turning every chapter into something meaningful.

“I’m just trying to shine a light as bright as I can in a world full of darkness… and maybe help someone else turn theirs on too.”
